About the work

There is a clear duality between destruction and reconstruction expressed in this series, exploring human fragility in the face of natural events, climate crisis, and human conflicts. In all cases, it’s a fragile formation, partially random but rigorous – common elements in Diogo Pimentão’s work – “Existences (specific)” as the title of this piece indicates. It implies a specificity marked by the elevations and piles of recycled cement slabs from previous works from the artist, but above all by the crosses carefully drawn in pencil on the white surfaces. The visual association with war debris adds a complex layer of interpretation, highlighting universal vulnerability and the possibility of reconstruction, even in the most challenging situations…

Maximum bids

You are more likely to be the winning bidder if at the outset you place a maximum bid i.e. the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the work. Your maximum bid is not visible to other bidders. If another bidder exceeds your maximum bid you will receive an automatic notification. If you have placed a maximum bid the auction site will automatically place bids on your behalf, but only as much is necessary to make sure that you remain the highest bidder, until it reaches your maximum bid. These automatic bids are placed in increments, as shown above.
