About the work

This is a portrait of the artist wearing a mask.

About the artist:

Born 1992 Vercruz, Héctor Jiménez Castillo lives and works in Guadalajara, Mexico. Graduated from BFA, Escuela de Artes de la Secretaría de Cultura Jalisco, Jalisco (2014).

Through his work Castillo investigates the production of images that appeal to the unconscious, mainly exploring different media: choreography, writing, drawing and sculpture. He is interested in artistic practice as a tool to get to know places, people and generate extra-cotidian experiences. With a particular interest in the performing arts, he has worked and collaborated on dance and theatre projects. He is co-founder and active member of Arrogante Albino artist lab, Arrogante's work could be considered a media collage that has the body as its center of investigation.

Selected solo exhibitions include Quis este deus quem adoras? (¿Cuál es el dios al que adoras?), Espacio Obra negra, Guanajuato (2018); You’re here and it’s amazing, Arrogante Albino’s commissioned performance for I SEE YOU, Humberto Moro & Ben Tollefson, SCAD Museum of art, Savannah (2018); Concierto para dos pies izquierdos, Laboratorio Artes Variedades, Guadalajara (2018); La domesticación de los reinos (plantae) para Unmetrocuadrado, Hotel Demetria, Guadalajara (2018); Hubo dos momentos de fugaz conciencia mientras cruzábamos el río, Guadalajara90210, Guadalajara (2017); and Artista holgazán, ingenuo y falto de pericia, Galería Juan Soriano, Guadalajara (2017).
